Skip to content Silicone emulsion SE-50/12 is a solvent-free aqueous emulsion of polydimethylsiloxane (silicone oil) for sizing and hydrophobic treatment. Designed for water-repellency treatment of various materials, including glass fiber and mineral wool products treated with phenol-formaldehyde resin.
Silicone emulsion SE 50/12 is designed for sizing and hydrophobic treatment of fiberglass and mineral wool products, in the production of which phenol-formaldehyde resin acts as a binder:
It is used to prevent the formation of fine dust in the manufacture of fiberglass mats or mineral wool mats, for this it is recommended to use the emulsion SE-50/12 in a mixture with the emulsion ME-50/42.
To impart water-repellent properties to fiberglass mats or mineral wool mats, the silicone emulsion SE-50/12 is mixed with a phenolic resin binder solution and other additives and applied by spraying.
If it is necessary, except to achieve water-repellent action, to prevent the formation of fine-dispersed dust in the production of glass fiber mats or mats from mineral wool, it should be used the emulsion SE-50/12 mixed with the emulsion ME-50/42.
Mixing ratio is 1 party by weight of the emulsion SE-50/12 on 3-5 parties by weight of the emulsion ME-50/42. In this case the emulsions blend is also mixed with a solution of phenol-aldehyde resin and other additives and apply in the same way by spraying
Re-processing of fiberglass and mineral wool products after curing the emulsion SE-50/12 (or a mixture of emulsions ME-50/42 and SE-50/12) is not recommended.
The consumption of the emulsion SE-50/12 (or a mixture of emulsions ME-50/42 and SE-50/12) depends on the required properties of the final product, therefore, to determine the optimal amount, it is necessary to conduct individual tests. In most cases the introduction of at least 0,2% of the emulsion SE-50/12 or 0.6-1.2% of the mix of emulsions SE-50/12 and ME-50/42 from the weight of the dry fibrous material is enough.
Since the shelf life of various mixtures largely depends on the composition of the binder and additives, therefore, to formulate general recommendations on their compatibility, individual tests should be carried out.
Always test the selected concentration of SE-50/12 (or a mixture of emulsions ME-50/42 and SE-50/12) on a small sample of material to determine the optimal amount of material and suitability for use in a particular case.
Store at temperature from +5°C to +30°C in tightly closed containers. Store in covered warehouses, protected from moisture, direct sunlight and away from heaters and tanks with strong oxidizing agents, alkalis and acids.
The guaranteed shelf life in original container is 6 months.
Storage over the date specified on the label does not necessarily mean the product is unusable. In case if store more please check the properties of product before use.
